The life and times of Alyssa Vincent, a library science student. |
I’m missing the midwest (and my family) like whoa, but I came back with some renewed energy and conviction that I would not be a parent for at least 10 more years. My nephew is an absolute charmer, but he knows how to exhaust a girl, even when she’s barely doing anything other than trying to keep up with his adorable jog.
No time for toddlers though, as I’ve started my fall semester already! Somehow, a primarily online program lacks a bit of the back-to-school grandeur that I loved for so long. Rather than buy new cardigans and polish my penny loafers (fact: those two things never happened any time I started school), I just log on and try to figure out how to respond to 50 Blackboard posts in under 20 minutes. And you’d better believe I’m putting that on my faux resume, a document I’ve decided to keep that documents my less marketable skills. Here’s a sample, because I’m sure you’re dying to know:
1) Able to paint nails and toenails with the precision of an artist.
2) Goes about pattern-mixing like it ain’t no thang.
3) Makes a macaroni and cheese that will make your heart sing and your stomach cry (only because my mom is willing to share her secrets).
To be continued, as I continue to polish my skills. Just you wait, future jobs. I’ll make you mine yet!
